Chapter 4:
"You didn't tell me you had a meet last night," I sat on my bed and
watched Riley do his morning exercises. I thought about Eli and Eric. Mikko
too. They were all probably having fun new experiences right now. At this very
moment! And me. I was sitting here with an Upper that was too nice to ask me to
do anything!
And not just things like that mind you. Riley would always let me shower
first. He often offered me his toothpaste. And what was worse was that he was
now posing as having a sex drive of absolute 0!
One cannot be a part of Vita Sacro and pretend to be impotent.
"I guess I forgot to tell you. It was just an exhibition anyway."
"I'll be at your next match," I promised.
"That's ok, really. It's just swimming."
"Maybe I want to see you swim," I became a little defensive.
"Oh. Then that's cool," he smiled as he did his sit-ups.
"....I also saw what they did to Brett last night."
Riley bit his lip to erase his smile. He continued to silently exercise.
"Strange thing was that he liked it," I added in an attempt to maybe
get at least something going between us.
"......."
"Damn it Rile! Are you gonna say something about it or just pretend that
it doesn't exist?!"
"You just call me Rile?"
"Yeah."
"Hm. I like that."
"Don't change the subject!"
"I wasn't."
"Aren't you gonna ask me to do anything?"
"Well, I thought you didn't want me to," he said, his hard body on
display, mocking me, "You tried to buy me off yesterday, remember?"
I had forgotten about that completely. For the very first time, my way of life
had come back and bit me right in the ass.
.....
Hang on a second. Let me explain something quick before I continue. See, I've
always gotten whatever I wanted. Always, no matter what. So now, being forced
to do something that I quote 'didn't want to do' seemed incredibly exciting.
What I found myself wanting more than anything that morning was for Riley to
lay back, spread his legs and demand I suck him off. I 'didn't want' to suck
him off but...I wanted to suck him. I know it doesn't make sense. I was
just being a brat.
"I like you, August. And I don't want you hate me," Riley seemed
proud of this small sentimental confession.
I put a hand to my face before becoming irate.
"Make me do something!"
"You sure are fast to change your mind," Riley's cheeks were becoming
a soft pink. He finished off his exercises with a troubled look,
"Uh.....my...my...," he sat up, his chest heaving, and looked down.
Between his legs.
'Go on! Say it!! My cock needs sucking!'
I was off my bed and sitting in front of him before I could think straight.
"My...,"
"Your what?" I asked eagerly.
"...My laundry's dirty. If you don't mind, I guess you could do that
much."
I sighed, defeated.
"Alright Riley....I'll....do your laundry."
There was no way to say no to such a nice guy.
That day I used my free time to roam about campus. I finally made my way over
to the sororities which were secluded on the grounds' opposite end. There was
also a small lake back there. Surely the girls here didn't do the same stupid
things that we did, right? As I was wondering about this I ran into Eli.
"Oh hey," I barely got it out of my mouth before my friend dragged me
off to a nearby tree. He was looking shyly around as I was asking him what the
matter was.
"Promise you won't say anything to Eric."
"Why keep anything from your best friend? I don't wanna be in the middle
of something here-,"
"He f*cked me."
Now I was looking around to make sure no one was listening.
"Who?....Teagen?"
Eli nodded, his face pale.
"...How was it?"
"Sh*t. Sh*t, I liked it," Eli put a hand to his forehead and he began
to nervously pace about in front of me, "August, I liked it waaaaaaay more
than I should have."
"...He didn't force you-," I began.
"What? No, no. We...we...well, it was mutual."
"I don't really see what the problem is. You know the same thing's
probably happening to Eric. Save for that Ellerson probably isn't going so easy
on him."
"I know, but...it's still weird."
"Alright. I won't say anything," I grumbled. So I was right. Everyone
was getting action but me, "But it's not like he's not gonna find out
eventually."
The Pledges were called into the Fireplace Room again that night. This time it
wasn't crowded. There were only the nine of us plus Miller. And Tommy was there
to give us our orders.
"Alright guys. I'm sure you all know about the cemetery a half mile East
of here."
I gulped.
"You boys will be spending the night there tonight."
Excited chatter from all of us. This didn't seem like a bad challenge at all.
In fact it sounded like fun.
"You'll be taking nothing with you. And you'll be wearing nothing. Except
for your shoes...and these," Tommy Bonner held up a small paper sack.
"Sh*t," I sighed.
"Is there a problem August?" the Head of House immediately asked me.
I was dumbfounded that he actually remembered my name.
"No," I shook my head, "But...I was wondering something. Why's
there all this Italian stuff?" I motioned towards the large book that sat
unopened on a table nearby, "Like how you read in Italian the other night.
I thought this was just a frat house."
"......," Tommy looked at me a long time before blowing off my
question completely, "Alright! All of you get into these. Miller will be
going with you to supervise."
They were thongs. Red cotton thongs.
I tried not to look at the others as I stripped down.
"Well, at least it's a night away from Bishop," Brett said aloud and
a couple of the others laughed. My eyes darted over to Eli. He was changing and
looking at Eric. Eric was looking at Squeak who was looking at his Upper,
Miller, and we were all very self conscious.
The thongs were uncomfortable and gave nothing to the imagination. The material
for crotch space was also very limited, so there were peeks here and there.
Ron, who looked to be the best equipped out of all of us, didn't have enough
room to keep himself covered. The other two I hadn't met yet, Marcus and Chris,
were laughing and trying to help him fit it all in.
I wasn't able to say goodnight to Riley. We were rushed out of the house and
back into the woods. Lucky for us it wasn't a cold night but still...
"Riley had to do this," I said to my uneasy friends as we walked,
"Him and Teagen and everybody else."
"Yep," Miller said from the front of the group in his purple jacket,
"And I did it too, so you'll survive."
"It's a half mile?" Marcus was griping from behind us, "This
thing's riding up my ass! And my balls keep falling out!"
"No bitching back there," Miller was almost like a boy scout leader
as he led us along the narrow dirt trail, "Suck it up or head back."
The woods became very dark. Miller turned on a flashlight and we kept going.
Eli kept tripping over things and Mikko accidentally felt me up in the dark.
Eric kept us moving forward, somewhat serious even in this situation. I think
he was a little scared.
I was wondering if St. Victorika cemetery would be just as old as the campus.
After assuming that it would be, I then realized I remembered the name. Tommy
had said at the inducting ceremony.
In the name of Victorika, and in the name of our House, Vita Sacro.
Why now of all times I was thinking intellectually was beyond me. I yelled
ahead and asked Miller how much further it was.
"Keep your thongs on, boys, we're almost there," the fact that the
Senior seemed so relaxed made me more at ease. He wasn't trying to freak us out
or scare us. Eric, however, was doing a terrific job of scaring himself.
"What the f*ck was that?!"
"What?" Brett looked around.
"That noise! Like sticks moving n' sh*t."
"Is probably just animals," Mikko reasoned ahead of us.
"Animals?! Bears!"
"Maybe," Mikko looked back into the dark, "But is more than
likely raccoon or rabbit. Something like that. 'Ey Eric you scare easy,
huh?"
"So?!" Eric fumed at us. By now we had all nearly forgotten that we
were next to naked out in the wilderness.
"We're here," Miller informed us, "Watch the steps."
I'd been calm until I saw the steps. They were old stone, half crumbled and
worn away. Instead of using them we hiked up the hill beside them.
When we reached the top of the hill my composure left completely. There were
rows of old Mausoleums and tall stone pillars. Crumbling markers and spooky
looking statues. Some were armless. Others headless. Vines grew on everything.
Even in the dark we could see that there was a visible mist hovering over the
grass. As if the corpses resting below were still fresh and their body heat was
rising above ground. All of us were glued to the spot.
The place looked haunted as hell.
"I'M NOT SLEEPING OUT HERE!!!"
~*~
Chapter 5: Vicktorika's
Grave
At first I thought it had been me that had made the outburst. But it was Eric.
He was scared sh*tless and wanted to go back.
"You can't go back now, we're already here," Eli grabbed his friend
by the arm, "And you're not going back by yourself."
"Great," Eric huffed, "Stay here and get possessed by some ghost
or go back and let a bear rip my ass in half."
"Just calm down," Mikko rationalized, "There's nothing to be
scared of. Nothing except for maybe getting a hardon in these things."
I was beginning to enjoy the Scandinavians personality.
Miller was trying to keep us moving.
"I gotta walk you guys through the place so come on," he gestured us
forward with his Pledge Squeak at his side.
'Miller doesn't seem like too bad of an Upper either. Wonder if Squeak's
gettin' any-'
"Don't let go of me!" Eric demanded angrily as he and Eli walked
along. Eli sighed.
"Damn dude. I didn't know you were such a wimp."
"F*ck you, ok? I don't wanna die out here!"
We walked through the rows of Mausoleums. I squinted, trying to read the names
and passages carved on the stones. This proved impossible.
Marcus, Ron, and Chris were laughing from the back of our group.
"Alright. We stake out here," Miller said as we reached a grassy
patch just beyond the center of the burial grounds. The biggest of the Mausoleums
stood back in this area, and the grass seemed to serve as it's yard.
"This is that Vickorika guy's grave," I said as I made out the name
above the door of the large tomb. It was extravagantly built and could have
almost been big enough to serve as a small house. It had these dark stained
glass windows, and someone was depicted in the one on the doors, but again it
was too dark.
"Vicktorika? You mean the guy that founded Vita Sacro?" Eli seemed to
be the only one other than me that had shown any sort of observance. Everyone
else didn't seem to care.
"Yeah. He's that guy...Isn't he that guy?" I asked Miller, fidgeting
with my thong, "The one guy with the statue and the book thing?"
"...," Miller looked back at the Mausoleum for a moment as if he was
about to reveal something. Then he looked dumbly back at me.
"Iunno. Who cares. He's dead now, right?"
"Psh," I rolled my eyes as everyone sat. Eric had managed to calm
down a little, but he still had a death grip on Eli's arm. I tried to make him
feel better and made light conversation.
"Looks like I'd better join a sports team if we're all gonna be seeing each
other naked so much," I said.
"Hm. You're right," Eli agreed with me as if it were a serious
matter, "I think track tryouts are coming up. Wanna do it August?"
"Yeah sure. How about you Eric?....Eric?"
"Did-did you hear that?" Eric whispered sharply at us.
"What?" I asked.
"That noise just now," Eric looked frantically around, "It was
like...a moan."
Instead of growing scared, I felt my cheeks begin to grow hot. I looked around
to see who among our party was missing. It was Ron, Marcus, and Chris.
"Um, I don't think it's ghosts you're hearing," I cleared my throat
as we all heard a soft giggle that drifted our way from behind a nearby site.
"Someone's having fun," Brett piped up from his place with Mikko. The
two were laughing. Miller smiled but did nothing about it. Instead he called
Squeak over to him, and we watched as the pledge was requested to mount his
lap.
I looked away as I heard the sound of Miller's belt.
"Guess if anyone's not gay now's a good time to get the straight out of
your system," I sighed. Eli and Eric looked terrified.
It got worse when Miller and Squeak actually started f*cking. There was nothing
we could do but sit there in the dark with our hardons. Brett and Mikko joined
us.
"This kinda sucks out here," Mikko said, "I could be back at the
house right now gettin' it from Tommy 'stead of this."
"Well my ass is happy for a night off," Brett said over Squeak's
squeaks, "That guy likes to pound me 'till my ass has no feeling left in
it," he yawned and then said, "How 'bout you guys?"
Oh no. Here it was.
Eli shot me a look. I said nothing.
"Well? Eli? Eric? How's Teagen? And Liam?"
"He's...," Eli looked at Eric next to him and then at Brett,
"He's....uh...,"
"Good, huh?" Mikko grinned.
"I...I dunno. I don't wanna talk about it."
A couple seconds later Eli suddenly vented on us.
"Sh*t. I can't believe our Dads actually recommended us to sign on
here," he looked at Eric, nearly ready to curl up and die from
embarrassment, "It's turning me into a f*g! And I'm not a f*g Eric!"
Eli motioned to himself as he said this in a
believe-me-or-I'll-beat-the-living-sh*t-out-of-you sort of fashion.
"Your Dads probably f*cked each other while they were here," Brett
snickered.
"Shut up," Eric spoke up at last, "To uh...answer your question
Brett....,"
It seemed like an hour before he finished his sentence.
"Ellerson...he likes to keep me from coming. It's driving me crazy."
"Sounds kinky," Mikko said as Eric released his hold from Eli. So
much for secrets.
"And you August?" Brett asked, "I'm sure Riley has quite the
stamina, right?"
All I could do was lie.
"Er, yeah. He's....he's pretty...awesome," I'm sure I sounded less
than convincing.
The cemetery trip was a moderate success. Half of us got laid. The other half
opened up and admitted what was happening to us. If we weren't into cocks
before, we most certainly were now. And if not now, then we were more than
likely going to be before the semester was out. I couldn't remember the last
time I had had to lie about anything. I felt pathetic.
Riley was going to pay.
I went to visit him the next afternoon at the pool. When I entered there were
several guys leaving. It looked like I had missed their practice.
"Excuse me. You seen Riley around here?" I asked a tall swimmer who
was toweling off, wearing next to nothing.
"Les? Oh, that guy stays late. He's been having a hard time lately
so...," the Senior trailed off as he smiled at me, "...Yeeaah."
I didn't pick up.
"Having trouble? With what? Swimming?"
"No, not that," Riley's teammate leaned over to me and lowered his
voice, "He says he can't get off at his dorm anymore so he does it
here."
"Did he...say why not?" I was surprised that Riley's friend knew such
a thing. But then again, my surprise also showed that I didn't know Riley all
that well yet.
"Guess it's got to do with his...hey....is your name August by
chance?"
".....," I didn't answer. I just stood there gaping like a fool.
"Damn. He's right. You're pretty cute," the swimmer looked me over,
"Listen, listen. Don't let him know I told you that. He'd kill me."
"Don't worry about it," I said at last, and then summoned up my
courage to ask, "So...um...which way is it to the locker room?"
~*~
Chapter 6: Cathedral
I silently slipped into the changing room. My heart was pounding.
'What if he's small? Will that change anything?'
"Why would that change anything?" I whispered softly to myself as I crept
along, "It's not like anything's even happened."
I peeked around the first corner. The set of lockers that were closest to the
door were empty. I tiptoed over and then peered around the next corner. Then
the next, making sure to keep on looking back behind me.
Riley was in the last enclave of lockers. I could now hear his breathing.
'He sounds cute,' I smiled to myself and then stealthily made to get a
glimpse of my Upper. So this was where all his sexual energy had been
going.
He was sitting on the wooden bench, his back pressed up against his locker
door. He was dry but still wearing his blue swim briefs, of which were pulled
down underneath his balls. I found myself admiring them first because of how
big they were. But then my gaze moved upward to marvel at the exquisite piece
that Les Riley had so cruelly been keeping from me.
It was nice alright. Thick and long. His hand moved slowly over his shaft and
then head, lovingly as if he had all the time in the world and wasn't about to
rush. He appeared to be enjoying every single second of what he was doing. I
watched him for awhile, content with just this. When Riley's length lost it's
slickness he paused and let go of it, reaching over next to him to pour a
little more oil into his hands. He then rubbed them together, looking down at
his hardness with a lustful smile on his face. Eagerly, he went back to work.
"Hhmmm," he purred softly to himself. It was more of a grumble in his
throat than anything. I was completely captivated. He looked like a sex god with
that body and the way he was sitting there. An expert in self pleasure. This
made me envy him.
And want him.
'Alright August. Here's the part where you pop out of the shadows and surprise
him. Just run over and put your mouth over it before he can protest.'
That was my plan.
But I wasn't moving. I was too busy falling for him.
Up until now I hadn't really noticed just how beautiful Les Riley was. Pale
grey green eyes that, in this moment, looked so incredibly pleased that he
might just die. He was staring down at himself as if in love with what he saw.
I couldn't blame him. His fingers were long and his skin was nicely toned. I
watched him run a hand over his chest and then tug at his nipples. He moaned
again.
'It isn't fair. It isn't fair he's keeping this from me!'
"Haa-...Ahhhh, not yet," Riley breathed to himself and began to slow
down even more. Even his self-control was admirable.
'Am I gonna have to end up raping this guy to get what I want?
I guess by then I was so awestruck that I had forgotten to stay well out of
sight. Riley looked up, and to my complete surprise, he saw me. Saw me watching
him like a pervert with one eye, the other half of my face hidden around the
corner.
"...August?" he asked, moving his hand away, his face instantly
turning pink.
"Uh....hello," I said, still sitting there in that creepy manner,
"Sorry, they said you were back here so.......,"
"I don't believe this," Riley put himself away and then proceeded to
gather his things, still erect in his briefs. He looked humiliated.
"What's wrong?" I asked softly as I stood up, "I'm sorry I was
watching. But that doesn't mean you have to-,"
"Can't even do it here anymore!" Riley pulled on his clothes, leaving
his briefs on under his track pants.
"I'm sorry," I said again, "Are you pissed at me?"
"Huh?" Riley was so red in the face that it looked like he'd been hit
with a stick, "I really wish you hadn't seen-,"
"Why not?" I asked desperately, "Why can't I-,"
"I want you to like me, ok?" Riley's tone changed. Now he was getting
mad, "And that's never gonna happen."
I was too confused to respond. My Upper brushed past me and headed out. Great.
Now things at home were going to be even more awkward then they already were.
I didn't go back to the dorm. Instead, I wondered around alone feeling sorry
for myself. Why wasn't it ever going to happen? I already liked him.
With a sigh, I walked to the center gardens.
As dusk settled in I remained there, staring at the statue.
"What would Vicktorika do?" I muttered dryly to myself. The
cathedral's tower boomed six o' clock. I was supposed to be heading back.
"I don't feel like any challenges tonight. I've got enough problems as it
is."
-
"Tonight the Floor Wars open!" Tommy was screaming from the Fireplace
Room as I headed into the house. Hopefully I would go unnoticed and-
"What's this? Looks like a late Pledge," It was Liam Ellerson. It was
so like him to have caught me.
"Sorry, I got kept up."
"On opening night?"
"What night? What? No one told me something was happening," I said.
"Too late for excuses. There's only nine Pledges, August. It's not very
easy for your absence to go unnoticed. You should remember that."
Ellerson escorted me to the Fireplace Room. He waved a hand to Tommy who was up
front speaking.
Tommy nodded.
"Well, now that everyone is here we can finally start. August,
since you seem to have higher priorities than pledging for your own House, you
can represent the second floor tonight."
Everyone looked at me.
"Represent?" I asked mildly.
"Yes. Come up here."
The guys cleared way for me. When I reached the front of the room I saw what
Tommy meant. Bishop, the First Floor Captain was sitting in a chair with Marcus
on his knees before him. Teagen was in a chair next to them. He grinned at me.
"Hurry it up," Tommy ordered.
I went over to Teagen and, with a nervous sigh, got down onto my knees.
I saw Riley. He made it known that he was there, having moved to the front so
that my peripheral could catch him. I couldn't read his face.
"First Pledge to get their Captain off wins for their floor. Best of 3.
Tonight, August will take all three cocks for the second floor.
Laughter.
"You'd better not let your team down," Tommy said to me as I unzipped
Teagen. I nodded.
"Alright, August," Teagen looked down at me, "This is gonna have
to be a team effort, ok?"
"Ok," I looked up at him. I hate to admit how anxious I was to get at
him. Riley had starved me. I needed something. Anything! Teagen ended up lucky
that night. Him and the other two guys I blew. They received all of my pent up
aggressions.
"Ready!...GO!"
Marcus was fast and seemed like he knew what he was doing. But I, I had my
frustrations to fuel me. Once I got him into my mouth I was in heaven. I worked
hard with my tongue and took him to the base. I didn't care if I choked.
"Damn....Augie....f*ck," Teagen gasped as I quickly worked on him.
The room was loud, each of the members cheering for their floor.
"There....there, yeah," the Upper whispered to me. Teagen was fairly
easy to please. He was also nice, and I could see why Eli liked him.
Eli. I was probably pissing him off by doing this. He did like Teagen after
all, right?
Bishop had his fingers gripped tightly in Marcus' hair and was thrusting up
into his mouth. The first floor Pledge looked miserable.
I went down and licked Teagen's balls. Assuming I couldn't use my hands, I kept
them on the floor. I could hear people making fun of us. It didn't matter. I
wanted Riley to see what I was capable of. I wanted to please Teagen.
And I wanted to win.
~*~
Chapter 7: What I'm
Looking For
I won. I alone beat three other guys. Shut 'em out. Needless to say Teagen was
pleased with me. So was everyone else.
Naturally, I was happy that I'd finally gotten my first real taste of sin since
living at the V. But Riley was angry. He didn't talk to me. We slept in the
same room and that was all. I'm still not sure why things then were so
complicated.
"Come on, we're gonna be late," Eli hustled me across campus that
Saturday morning to the track. The two of us were still on good terms. However,
I was still wondering what Eli thought about Teagen. So I asked him.
"Last night didn't bother you?"
"Bother me? What about it would bother me?" Eli ran a hand through
his hair and we kept walking, "I liked it."
"I mean Teagen. And me."
"'S not a big deal. Besides, the V House is for perverts. You think I
should be expecting something?"
"You like Teagen, don't you?"
"So what if I do? It's not like it matters. I don't like like him
or anything."
"What would you think if he f*cked someone else?" I pried.
"Whatever," Eli grumbled and then went on to ask why I was drilling
on him.
"Just curious. Has Eric said anything to you about how he's holding
up?"
"No. We haven't been talking much since the cemetery."
I could imagine why. How embarrassing for two fathers to encourage their sons
to come here together.
We made it to the track and found that we were the only Vita Sacro members
there. Everyone looked lean and fit, like they'd been running their entire
lives. Eli and I just wanted to stay in decent shape for our rituals. That and
joining a sports team seemed like a natural thing to do. Surprisingly enough,
both of us made the cut. Practices were in the afternoons and our first
competition was on Thursday. I knew Riley had a meet that night but I didn't go
to watch him. I had to be present for the trials.
That night it was only a drinking contest. I was second to quit because I
didn't feel like suffering from a massive hangover in the morning. Chris from
the first floor won, and that tied our score.
"What does the winning floor get?" I asked Tommy that night as we
were the last out of the Fireplace Room.
"A prize, what else?" he replied, "We announce the winner after
you guys get initiated."
Then Tommy did something strange. He held me back and waited for the others to
leave.
"I was really impressed by you last night. I've never seen a Pledge that
good."
"Oh. Thanks. Strange thing was I never really had any experience."
"Would you like some more?" he asked softly.
"Uuuhhhh...," I hadn't been expecting this.
'Idiot! You can't turn down the Head of House!'
I wasn't sure if Tommy was coming onto me or examining me. It felt like a bit
of both.
"I'm...ah-," I rubbed the back of my neck.
"What, has Riley got you booked for the evening?"
The mention of his name made me twitch.
"No. No, he doesn't," I probably sounded bitter, "Should we go
somewhere?"
"Ah!!"
I coughed as a little bit of the last of it clung to the walls of my throat.
Mikko was already asleep in the next bed. They'd let me watch them, and after
Tommy's Pledge had tired out it was my turn to step up to the plate.
"Hm. best head I've ever had," Tommy was sweating as I wiped my mouth
and then began to clean him up.
"You don't have to exaggerate," I smiled a little, embarrassed at
what I knew was a huge compliment.
"Believe me, I'm not. You've got a natural gift August."
"Thanks."
I got up and laid beside him. Not in a loving way or anything. I was just
tired.
"Tommy, can I ask you something?" I said as I looked over at a snoring
Mikko.
"What?"
"Why is this house like this?"
".....,"
"Not all houses are like this. Was it like this when you were a
Freshman?"
Tommy's black eyes looked over at me.
"Why do you ask that?" his voice was a little suspicious.
"I'm not sure."
"It's like you already know or something."
"Know what?"
"What I'm looking for this year," he gave a little smirk and then
said, "It's late. Better get on back to Les. I'm sure he'll keep you up
the rest of the night. That is, if he's feeling lenient."
"I think he can deal with a night without me."
"Really?" Tommy seemed to like the fact that I wasn't kissing his
feet. Sure I did what he said, but at least I didn't act all stupid about it
like some of the other guys.
"Yeah. He'll live."
"In that case," he whispered to me, "Turn over. I'll service
you."
I thought Tommy was going to f*ck me but he didn't. He said he'd leave that to
Riley. Instead he gave me a rimjob that nearly made me black out from pleasure.
Despite all of our noise Mikko didn't so much as lift an eyelid. He slept
through the rest of the night and we were free from disruptions.
-
In the morning I felt incredibly refreshed. I thanked Tommy, said goodbye to
Mikko, and left.
I turned the corner, and ran straight into Riley.
He looked at me. Then at Tommy's door.
"It's your fault you know," I muttered, "Saying that I won't
like you and this and that."
Riley looked dejected, "...At least now you're getting what you want,
right?" he sighed and made his way past me.
"What am I supposed to do in a place like this, huh?" I said after
him, "Shrivel up and die while everyone else-,"
"Forget it," Riley was already halfway down the stairs, "Just
forget it."
I let him go.
I still felt the same about him, even if he was acting crazy. What did he
expect? For me to stay true to him and only him when he kept ignoring me?
"...F*ckin' lunatic."
I sat in class that day. And I thought about What Tommy had said.
He was looking for something. What? Why did it seem like I knew what he
was looking for? I was too young to try and take over the house after he left,
wasn't I? Then what was it?
He never gave me any answers.
Like when I asked about reading in Italian. And about the house.
"I should've asked him about Vicktorika," I mumbled as I bit the top
of my pen, "If anybody knows, it's him."
All of the sudden I found myself interested in Vita Sacro. What was it? To
Tommy it seemed like a little more than just a fraternity.
Maybe I was bored. Or maybe I wanted to get my mind off of Riley.
Either way that was the day that I decided to find out what exactly was up with
Everwood. Why it was so reclusive and hidden away like it was. Why there was so
much as a cemetery. Even if students had lived here, what was up with
that?
Something was being hidden from us. Even if it wasn't a big deal, I wanted to
find out what it was.
Outside, the cathedral hit noon.
