The next day I felt a lot better and definitely hungry. The parents had taken Brahm off somewhere and wouldn’t be there for much of the day so I was left in the hands of Raime. I dressed and went downstairs to find her in the living room watching sportscenter.

“Hey,” I said.

She looked away from the screen, “You feelin’ better?”

I nodded, “Thanks for the aspirin.”

“Figured you’d need it for your head.”

“So what’s to eat around here?”

“Not much. Wanna hit The Corner?”

“Sure.”

Off we go to The Corner. It was strange that she barely talked the whole way there like she normally does. It was almost creepy. We took a spot inside this time since it was overcast out. We saw Ray as we sat down and he told us that our usual would be coming up. I love that guy, he rocks. Raime sat there looking at just about everything but me.

“Raime, what’s up, you not talkin’ is startin’ to creep me out.”

“…Was I really….flirting with him? It was that obvious?”

“I’ve known you all my life so yes. I probably shouldn’t have called you out on it like that, my bad.”

Raime pinked a bit, “Well…it’s his fault. I mean, he shouldn’t have been glaring at me like that with that cute face of his. Does he play sports or somethin’? He had a nice grip about him.”

“He scrimmages with the varsity basketball team once in a while.”

“Oh.”

“…You….like him or somethin’?”

“Don’t you breathe a word of that to anyone, or I’ll tell your friend that you were moaning out his name like a porn star.”

I put my hands up, “Fine.”

“Good.”

Our food came and we ate in silence for a while. Then she asked, “So you feel up for the party tonight?”

“Yeah, I’ll still go. It’ll beat hangin’ around the house all night.”

“Well you do that anyway when you’re in serious writer mode.”

“I’ve done a lot of writing during the week. I figure I can take a break.”

“Yay, my little bro’s gonna get his party on!”

“Well, I don’t know about that, but it will be a nice change. Oh, um, Avan-is-gonna-take-me-ok?”

“Who? Avan? You’re…friend.” Raime said with the evil grin again.

“Yes, my friend, Raime. Get your mind out of the gutter.”

“Ok, that’s cool. I was gonna pick up Hama anyway. That just means I can make out with her since I don’t have to take you.” Hamasaki Miyako or Hama as Raime calls her is a former Amazon from West Giliam. She and her sister Tomoko are the only Asian women I’ve ever seen that can pull of having blonde hair like it was natural. Tomoko is the Amazon we call Bombshell and she, like her older sister is a lesbian. I’m surprised Raime hasn’t tried anything with both of them, though I think Bombshell has a girlfriend.

“Raime I didn’t need to hear that.”

The day passed quickly and I called Avan to let him know that I was feeling better and wanted to go to the party. I got dressed in a nice snug pair of black jeans and a double layering of shirts and ventured into Raime’s side of the house and borrowed her straightening iron and pulled the waves out of my hair before pulling in into a low ponytail. It was almost to the small of my back just lacking about four inches. I missed my hair and I’m glad I haven’t had to deal with those evil spores since that dreadful day. Raime came into the room from her office (thankfully clothed) and decided that I needed to have a bit if lip gloss. I gave her an evil look and she countered with the you’re-in-my-territory look and I complied. I have to hand it to her, it wasn’t extreme like I thought, and it was a color that was just a tad pink. Enough to give my lips that slightly pouty effect. Since it had been sunny most of the week I had a bit of a tan so it worked. I left before she could go further and put eyeliner on me and waited for Avan to show.

He came early. I guess he really wanted to see me. I met him outside just as Raime was heading out. She waved and blew kisses to us as she backed out of the drive. I just shook my head. I looked at Avan who could only stand there. Damn he looked hot! There was a full moon out so the silvery light was making him just delicious. He was wearing tight blue jeans with a pair of steel-toe boots and a tight black mesh tank with an open black button down shirt. Fortunately we were in the throes of Indian summer so there was a warm breeze out. His hair was back like he had only been out of the shower a few minutes. It was brushing the top of his shoulder at this time and it just begged to have fingers running through it.

“So, where do you want to eat?” He asked as Raime’s taillights disappeared over the hill.

“We can hit The Corner for a quick bite.”

“Ok.” Off we go to The Corner.

The place was abuzz with the normal Saturday early night activities. We grabbed a seat at the counter since most of the people were outside. We ate and chatted about the usual bullshit guys do when they hang out. We soon left and made our way to Jake’s brother’s house. The whole way we just talked about random stuff. We came to a stoplight a few blocks from Andrew’s when Avan tensed. He was looking over at a semi empty parking lot at a group of cars and trucks that were parked close together.

“What’s wrong Avan?” I asked.

“It’s the defense,” he said. I looked over and sure enough, there were members of the defensive team grouped in the parking lot. What got me was the sight of a bruised Blake standing among them. His cheeks still looked a bit swollen from last night’s beat down.

“You don’t think they’re gonna do something stupid tonight?”

“Who knows with those guys,” Avan responded as the light turned green. We drove on and arrived at Andrew’s house. The party seemed to be in full swing ‘cause Avan had to park just in front of the next door neighbor’s driveway.  We got out and started our walk up the front yard to the house.  Andrew lived in the northern subdivision of the city called Magnolia Park where the suburban areas had about three acres of land per property and wonderful large magnolias trees. If you had allergies, Magnolia Park was your hell on earth. We walked around a manicured magnolia tree out of sight of the street when Avan took my hand and stopped.

“What’s up Avan?” I said.

Avan came close enough to me that I felt his breath on my skin. I couldn’t see his eyes very well since the branches were blocking a good portion of the moonlight. His hand came up and touched my cheek, “I’m…glad you’re feelin better,” he said quietly then kissed my cheek. His lips were still against my skin as he spoke again, “You look wonderful tonight.” I took in the scent of his cologne, it was Stetson. The damn commercial came into my head that they play around Christmas time where the cowboy is riding through the woods and there’s snow on the ground and the choir boys are singing, ‘easy for you, Stetson, it’s easy for you’.  Yeah, I’m strange like that. It was a good marketing campaign though.

Anyway, HE KISSED ME!!!!!! Sweet land of Moses!!!! I don’t care that it was my cheek or what, but HE KISSED ME! And it wasn’t like the ones he gave me yesterday. Those were the kiss my boo-boo-and-make-it-better kisses. I felt my cheeks flame up. He smiled against my cheek, “You’re blushing again. I can feel your heat.”

That made me blush harder, “Stop that, you’re gonna make me red all night.”

“Well, it’s not like we have to be here. We can go to my place.”

“I know that,” Yeah, my brain had a moment there, “but I told Jake I’d be here and since Raime’s comin’ she’ll think we’re off gettin’ it on somewhere if she doesn’t see me. She’ll never leave me alone.”

“You make it sound like that’s a bad thing?”

Just then we heard the unmistakable sound of a Kawasaki motorcycle. I didn’t know if I should have been relieved or annoyed that Rocket picked that time to show up. Anyway we continued our journey up to the house and met Rocket as she parked beside Raime’s truck.

“Hi you two, how’s it hangin’?” she said.

“Hey Rocket,” I said smiling, “Thanks for yesterday. I’m sorry that you had to get suspended, though.”

She gave me a hug, “Don’t worry ‘bout it Sage Francis, the crew looks out for one another.”

“How’d you parents take it?”

“They aren’t happy about it. I told them that Mr. Nikas was gonna try to get it lessened. I told them someone was tryin’ to get one over on the crew and we don’t play like that so he had to get a beat down. Dad was actually proud when I said that.”

“He was?”

Rocket nodded, “He said, ‘Well at least all that mixed martial arts training that you’ve been doing when you thought we weren’t paying attention is paying off.’”

I laughed, “It’s cool that your parents didn’t ground you or anything.”

“I’m glad too, I would’ve hated havin’ to miss this party. Hell, if I knew that they were ok with me doin’ MMA, I would have told them years ago.”

Just then the door opened and a taller version of Jake stood in the doorway, same dreamy chocolate brown eyes and all, “Hey guys, the party’s in back, come on in. What’s up Rocket,” he said standing out and holding the door open for her, “I hear you went to town of some idiot that was messin’ with a member of the crew.”

“You know I gotta let ‘em know what the deal is,” she said smiling as she walked past.

“Come on you two. I’m sure your sister will want to know you’re here,” Andrew said to me.

“Yeah,” I said and went in with Avan close behind.

We went in and for the most part it was quiet.  It was when we reached the kitchen we could hear music, and then Andrew opened the sliding glass door. There was a live band playing out back and people were everywhere. I spotted Jake near a long table littered with food and drinks. He was talking with a guy with shaggy blonde hair that fell into his eyes. He was about two inches shorter than me. The guy was smiling up at him. ‘That must be his boyfriend.’, I thought.  I caught a glimpse of Raime with her arm around Hama and whispering in her ear. Yeah, I’ll talk to her later. I went over to the table and grabbed a drink. The band finished their song and people were cheering.

“Sage, you made it. How’re ya feelin’? What’s up AV.” Jake said as I picked up a cup.

“’Sup,” Avan replied picking up a cup that was next to mine.

“I’m better, thanks.”

“Sage, AV, this is Aaron. Aaron, Sage and AV.”

“Hi there,” I said extending my hand.

“Hi,” he responded shaking my hand. He nodded to Avan.  I wish it were my imagination, but Avan stood closer to me. I raised a mental eyebrow at that. Yeah, my brain was playing with me.

“I think your sister’s around here somewhere,” Jake said.

“Yeah I saw her with Hama already. I’ll find her when she’s not tryin’ to make out with someone.”

“I get ya. Well, enjoy the party you two,” he said smiling. I then remembered what Rocket said yesterday and pinked.

The band started up again and people were dancing. I wandered around with Avan and we found a place to sit. We were just out of sight of the crowd sitting on a bench that was under a huge weeping willow. Its long branches tickled the grass in front of us. I leaned back against the trunk of the tree and listened to the band. Avan sat close to me. I soon felt his arm slip around my waist, his fingers gently stroking my own. I leaned against him. I heard giggling and stiffened.  I lifted my head and looked in the direction of the noise.

“It’s just someone foolin’ around, no biggie,” Avan said in my ear.

“That some could easily be my sister,” I said back.

“If it is, then I doubt highly she’s spying on you.”

“…True.”

“What’s wrong, don’t you like being like this?”

“I have no problem with it…just that being out in public…”

“You’re still thinkin’ about Blake, aren’t you.”

“All of that could have been avoided if I had just--,”

“You had no clue that he was going to do that so get that out of your head right now.”

“But--,”

“Keep thinking about it and no more omelets for you.”

“…You wouldn’t…”

“I would.”

“Ok, ok, no more thought about Bl--,”

That’s when things took a turn. We could hear people yelling over the music and then the band stopped altogether. We got up from the bench and peered out into the crowd. Believe it or not, we were actually there for quite a while just sitting there and then things started getting bad. My eyes widened when I saw Blake and some others on the defensive team pushin’ people out of the way and making all kinds of noise. Members of the offensive line started talkin’ to the defensive players and things seemed to calm down. Then Blake spotted me.

Oh shit. And of course, he was headed in my direction with two other guys almost as big as him. I thought I was actually gonna have to fight him that night.  Avan stood in front me as they closed in on us. The band had restarted their song and people were gettin’ back into the groove again, except for us and the three thugs that were coming our way.

“Blake what the fuck are you doin’ here,” Avan spoke first when they reached us.

“What the fuck are you doin’ with that fag AV,” Blake responded.

“I have a name you asshole,” I said coming to stand beside Avan.

“Yeah, it’s fag,” Blake shot back.

“Blake, get the fuck out of here. You’re ruining Jake’s party.”

“I’m not gonna let some queer turn you. I told my aunt, your mother, that I’d keep an eye on you.”

“Whoa, you’re related to this jackass?” I said turning to Avan.

“…Yeah.”

“Aunt Lina is not gonna like the fact that you’re hangin’ out with a fag,” Blake said.

“You have no fucking clue what my mother likes Blake so back the fuck up off me,” Avan said stepping up to his…cousin. Damn, that has to suck.

“Blake you were not invited to my party,” said Jake as he, Rocket, Raime, and Andrew came over. Whoohoo! The calvary has arrived!

“I just came to get my cousin, this has nothin’ to do with you or this gay ass party.”

“I hate to break this to you, Blake was it?” Andrew said coming to stand in front of Blake, looking down at him (he’s six nine), “But you are trespassing on private property. You need to leave. Now.”

“I’m only here to get AV. I don’t give a shit about this place or you,” Blake said lookin’ up at him.

“That’s too bad. You’ll have to stay at the station for the rest of the weekend since we don’t allow people to be bailed after nine p.m. Friday.”

“What the fuck? You can’t arrest me!”

“Well, seeing how I am a detective and you are trespassing on private property, I pretty much can,” he said pulling out a pair of handcuffs, “Now, you can either turn around and place your hands behind your back, or leave. Your choice.”

By this time, the other two had vanished from behind Blake when Andrew had said he was a detective, so that left him completely surrounded. The other defensive players were enjoying the party as the band started up a cover of that Finger Eleven song (never could remember the name of it). Poor Blake…NOT!

“Fuck all of you,” He said turning around and coming face-to-face with Rocket who smiled at him. He then turned into Raime’s path, her glow-in-the-dark contacts blazing at him. He turned back and looked around Andrew to Avan, “Don’t think I won’t tell Aunt Lina about this,” he said and walked between Raime and Rocket, bumping shoulders with both of them as he stalked off from the backyard.

“Well, that’s one rude fucker,” Raime said stepping closer to Rocket and slipping an arm around her waist, “How ‘bout we go and teach him some manners, hm?”

“He’s learned it for now,” Andrew said. He turned to me, “If he gives you any more trouble let me know. I heard about everything that happened yesterday from Jake. Come down to the station Monday and I’ll file the report for you. I’ll also put a restraining order out on him as well.”

“Thanks,” I said.

"Ok people, let's get back to the party," Jake said. Rocket and Raime were already walking away from us, Andrew then headed on as well, "You two can go back to cuddling under the willow," He said smiling. My face was on fire.

Avan looked at me, “Don’t you dare pass out on me again.”

“…I really need…to sit…” That’s when I felt Avan pull me back to the bench under the willow. I sat there for a second then changed position to lie down. The bench felt cool and rough against my back as I lie there breathing deeply. Avan’s left hand was on my head, his thumb stroking my forehead while his right hand was over mine on my stomach, fingers threaded between my own.  After a while, I looked over at Avan. The lights from the party created shadows against the willow branches leaving spots of light on his face. One bit of light caught just at his eye making it seem clear.

“I love your eyes,” I said softly.

“I love yours, too.”

“Is that why you were staring at me so much?”

“…Part of it.”

“What’s the other part?”

“I wanted to kiss you ever since the first time I saw you.”

Ok, this is where my brain went completely out of my head. Right after he said that, all I could think of was the conversation that happened between him and Blake that day outside of the training room when I outted myself to Rocket. Remember, people at prank high pull elaborate pranks, they don’t just fill your locker with trash and baby shit like that, they have people doing different stages of a prank to get to the desired goal. The fact that the defensive team is not real keen of Blake being gone for the rest of the season never sat well with them. I knew I was a target.

“Earth to Walker, come in Walker.”

Silence.

“…Sage, talk to me.”

Silence.

“Sage what’s wrong? Talk to me, please.”

I sat up, slower this time so no meeting of the minds, “I’m a target now. Those guys aren’t gonna let up now they know who’s behind Blake getting suspended.”

“You’re not gonna be a target, not if I can help it.”

“I don’t want you to get dragged into this Avan.”

“I’m already in it since my dumbass cousin felt the need to take out whatever the hell’s wrong with him on you.”

“Avan, what do you think’ll happen if Blake starts shooting off his mouth that I’m gay? I know there are people at our school that are ‘phobes. And you? What’ll your parents think?”

“I can deal with my parents. I’ll deal with anyone at school that has an issue with it as well,” he said. He leaned closer to me, “You…haven’t told anyone you’re gay?”

Oh shit, I had just let it out to another person. What the hell is goin’ on with my brain? I want to tell people in a more controlled environment, not like this, at a party where anyone could be listening. I’m really out there ‘cause I didn’t notice the sound of branches behind us moving, and it wasn’t due to the wind.

“Shit, this is getting crazy,” I said standing up, “I need to get out of here.”

“You want to go back to my place? It’s quieter.”

“Thanks, but I really need time to myself right now. I’ll see if Raime can take me home.”

“I’ll take you home Sage.”

I shook my head, “You should go deal with that idiot cousin of yours before he makes things worse.”

“…You’re sure?”

I gave him a sad smile, “Yeah. I’ll talk to ya later.”

I searched around and found no trace of my sister. I went inside and was just about to call for a cab when Jake came into the kitchen. I have to give it to him, he’s always around when I needed him.

“What’s wrong Sagie? You not feelin’ well?” he said. I couldn’t say anything, just like the weight room. Next thing I know there were a pair of arms around me and the faint scent of sandalwood as I took a deep breath, and cried. I didn’t understand it at the time, but my brain and my heart were in major talks about what I wanted. My brain kept on pumping out data on the outside matters of dealing with getting pranked, of possibly being in a prank at that moment, and the after shock that could take place because of it. My heart was rebutting saying that I wanted Avan more than I wanted for anything in the world. My brain was coming back with all kinds of ways that this could hurt him if I chose to pursue a relationship with him. I’m not stupid; there are still people out there that don’t like homosexuality in any form. There are even some that will go as far as to kill because of it. They would carelessly put others in danger because of their beliefs.  My brain didn’t want to put Avan through any of it. My heart was saying that if I cared and loved him like it knew I did, then it wouldn’t matter. Life wasn’t an easy thing to begin with. Everything over the past few weeks had built up so much that I couldn’t do anything other than cry. It had gotten to me more that I thought. I finally was able to lift my head from his shoulder and he took me into a spare bedroom. I sat there on the bed as he went and got me a bottled water and some tissue. I thankfully took them as he sat down beside me.

“So what happened? And before you start, I already had a feeling that you were gay, so you don’t have to worry about coming out to me. Did AV do something to you?”

“No,” I said looking down at the floor, “I don’t know if I can handle this. I’ve never wanted anyone like this before and now with Blake and all this shit happening…I don’t want to get more people involved. I mean, it’s gotten Rocket suspended for the rest of the year, the defensive line could have started major trouble here tonight and it would have all been because of me.”

“Only you can decide what you want. I can tell you this. There will be people in your corner, so if there are problems along the way, we’ll be there to help.”

“But I don’t want others getting involved if it starts going south. People could end up--,”

“Those are the risks of life Sage, believe me, I know them better than most people I know.”

“…Yeah, I guess you would. Raime told me about Alison.”

“It sucks that people are like that, especially when its family, but life is like that. At least her parents are more understanding. I’m sure yours are as well.”

“Of course. We’re talkin’ about Raime here,” I said smiling.

Jake smiled, “That’s better. You have a beautiful smile. That’s one of the reasons AV spent a lot of time looking at you in the weight room.”

I blushed, “Yeah, he told me that he wanted to kiss me ever since he first laid eyes on me.”

“Well there ya go. Why not give it a shot?”

“Do you know if…he’s out or not? Avan I mean.”

“Not to my knowledge no. But it’s not like you two are walking down the halls makin’ kissy faces at each other.”

“I just don’t want to cause more problems and all. At least while we’re still in school, ya know?”

“I hear ya on that. Fortunately for me this is my last year. A double bonus is that I’ve got a full ride so I don’t have to worry about needing anything from my folks when I graduate.”

“I’m sorry you have to deal with that. It’s not fair.”

“Like I said, life’s like that. Don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine.”

“So, Aaron’s your guy?”

“Yup, been that way for almost four years now.”

“He seems like a really nice guy.”

“He is,” Jake said looking up at the doorway. I looked in the same direction to find Aaron standing there smiling.

“I should go and find Avan,” I said getting up.

“I believe he’s left,” Aaron said, his voice a gentle tenor.

“Oh, damn, that’s right,” I said running my hand through my ponytail, “I told him to talk to Blake. I’ll call him later. Hopefully he can talk some sense into him.”

“One would think he’d learn something after the beating he took at the hands of Rocket, but I guess he’s got a really thick head,” Jake said as he followed me and Aaron back into the kitchen. The party was starting to wind down as the band was on their last set.

“I can only image how pissed he is that his cousin keeps butting into his life like that,” Aaron said sitting down on a barstool at the counter.

“I can’t believe they’re related,” I said.

We stayed there talking for a few minutes then Rocket came into the house, her lips slightly swollen, like she’d spent some time kissing someone. Gee, I wonder who.

“Hey Sage Francis,” she said, her face a bit flushed, “Raime wanted me to tell you that she’s takin’ Hama and Tomoko home and not to wait up.”

“…Yeah, that last part I didn’t need to know,” I said, “Oh shit, how am I gonna get home?”

“Where’s AV?” she asked, “Why are your eyes red? Have you been crying? What did AV do to you after we left?”

“It’s ok Rocket, he didn’t do anything wrong,” I said shaking my head, “I told him to go set Blake straight so he’s gone already. It’s just that all of this over the last two weeks was finally sinking in after that last confrontation.”

Rocket grabbed me into a tight hug, “Don’t worry Sage, we’ve got your back. So go get your man, ok?” she pulled back a bit, “And please tell your sister you’re gay. It’s not like she’s gonna flip out about it.”

I looked at her for a second, “She’s been trying to kiss it out of you hasn’t she.”

“How’d ya guess?”

“The fact that your lips are swollen is one sign. Plus, Raime generally doesn’t go after people she knows are straight. And since I told her that yesterday she would have backed off. Especially since she’s foolin’ around with Hama and Bombshell.  They get fussy when she’s not paying them any attention,” then I thought out loud, “Doesn’t Bombshell have a girlfriend?”

“She dumped her last week,” Rocket said, “That chick was only playing at bein’ les. Bombshell is pissed.”

“I’d hate to be that chick,” Jake said, “Bombshell’s gonna make her life hell for a while.”

“I almost wanna feel sorry for her,” Rocket said, “She doesn’t have a clue of what’s comin’ to her.”

“It’s her own fault,” Jake responded, “The one person you shouldn’t play with in that matter is Bombshell.”

“What’s Bombshell gonna do?” I asked.

“You’ll know soon enough,” Rocket said, “It’ll be on the news for sure.”

Well anyway, Monday came and I filed a report with Andrew (he’s so adorable!) and the rest of the week went without any incident. I’d talk to Avan when I got a chance, but I spent most of my time writing. I just needed to get all of the stuff that was in my head down on paper. The rest of the regular season went by without incident from any players. There was an morning news interruption about three weeks later dealing with a woman’s car being stolen and found a week later in her driveway at two o’clock in the morning on fire. There was a message written in fire on the street but it was blurred out by the producers. No one was ever caught and the ‘victim’ conviently couldn’t think of anyone that would do such a thing to her. The woman ended up moving after another news incident stated her house was broken into and most of her possessions ended up for sale on e-bay, and sold to overseas buyers. Apparently there’s a market for used women’s underwear overseas. Creepy. On another note, Rocket’s case was brought before the school board and they voted unanimously in favor of her returning to school just before the winter break, so she only missed just a month and a week of school altogether. Yay!

Spring semester came and with it the lovely good news that I was able to take college courses starting in the summer and I would be able graduate with the upcoming senior class. Hell yeah, I get to graduate with Avan!  Things had calmed down a bit, or so I though at the time, and we went back to our usual selves. I was getting ready for track and he with soccer so the only we really saw each other was after school when we headed to practice. I still had some reservations, but I wasn’t going to let them make me paranoid every time I talked to him. It was the second home meet of the season when we actually got a chance to talk. Soccer practice was cancelled for that day since there was a quad meet going on so Avan decided to come check me out. I was bent over stretching when I got the feeling. I looked around in my upside down state and saw Avan walking up to me. Here I am, my legs spread, bent over and ass in the air in those evil track shorts and he comes walking my way with that sexy smirk of his. I may have been red from the bending over, but I was definitely red when I took sight of him. I tried to play it off and straightened up just as he came to my side.

“I liked that position you were in,” he spoke. Luckily there was no one close to me but Jake that heard that. Jake smiled. I wanted to hide.

“Hey there, what’s up,” I said trying to be casual. My face only felt red for a few seconds.

“Just thought I’d come see you throw since soccer practice is cancelled,” Avan said.

“Cool,” I said stretching my arms behind my back. I interlocked my fingers and began bringing my arms upward, bending slightly when I felt his hands at my wrists steadying the resistance. After shaking out my arms, the coach in charge of the shot put began roll call of all those participating in guys shot put.  Avan walked over and leaned against the fence as we got ready to compete. There were sixteen guys competing so it was broken into two heats. Jake and I were in the second heat so we went over by the fence and watched our teammates in the first heat. Mark came over and started talkin’ to Jake so that left me and Avan for conversing.

“So how’s your season been so far?” he asked.

“Pretty good. Placed third last meet at Barlington. I missed out on second by one and a half inches.”

“That had to suck.”

“Yeah. So, soccer doin’ ok?”

“Yeah, we crushed Cambridge the other day. They should’ve had the mercy rule in effect since we scored twelve goals in the first half. There was no way they were gonna catch up to us.”

“I’ll have to come check you guys out sometime.”

“We’ve got a home game Friday, why not come then? I’m sure Coach’ll let ya out of practice.”

“We’ll see.”

Avan leaned in a bit, “Then you can come home with me afterwards.”

I pinked.

“Camby up, Strayhan on deck, Myers in the hole,” the coach called out the beginning lineup of the first heat.

“What’s wrong? You don’t want to come over? I thought you liked my cooking,” he said with that sexy smirk of his.

“You’re bribing me to come over with food?” I asked.

“…Is it working?”

“Of course it is,” I said a tad bit loud, Jake and Mark looked in our direction. I suddenly found interest in some of the rocks on the ground. They started chuckling. I gave them a half-hearted glare then went back to looking at those eyes.

About twenty minutes later the second heat started and I was fourth up. The whole entire time I felt his eyes on me. I almost scratched my first throw, but I managed to recover just in time. My next two throws were better and I ended up placing second behind Jake by a good six feet, my forty-eight feet to his fifty-four. Jake had an off day that day. The Amazons swept in discus with Rocket placing first, then Bombshell and Alison in third. The distances were only half inches apart from each other as the rest of the competors were behind them by seven feet at least. Then the switch came and we won easily in discus with Mark pulling off the win and Jake coming in second by three eights of an inch and myself in third a full inch behind. I said Jake was havin’ an off day. Hopefully he got some comfort lovin’ that night.  The ladies swept shot put with Bombshell, Alison, and freshman to the crew, Citrus. She always has some kind of fruit she’s snackin’ on when you see her, hence the name. Citrus beat out Rocket by a half an inch.

We were walking over to the stands to sit since I had a while before my race when Avan felt the need to tug me in the direction of the bathrooms. The distance races were up so I knew I had time and I didn’t have to run the sixteen hundred this time around. We came into the empty bathroom and Avan pulled me into the last stall. My back was against the wall of the bathroom between Avan’s outstretched arms, barring any chance of leaving (like I was really gonna leave). Those eyes were full of mischief, of the sexual kind. God I love those eyes.  He brought a hand up to cup me cheek, his thumb stroking my bottom lip like he’d done before. I closed my eyes and let my lips part.  His hand then left my face and went behind my head to the elastic tie that held my hair back. I wanted to put my hand up to stop him, but I couldn’t. I just wanted him closer to me. Soon my hair was loose and flowing over my shoulder in front on me as he pulled the tie out. His hand then buried itself in my hair at the nape of my neck and that’s when it happened.

Our first kiss.

If you guys haven’t noticed, I’m not really into the romantic stuff. I’ll write about that sure, ‘cause it does help to sell books, but as for my personal life, nope. Besides, I could have cared less where it happened, just as long as it happened. And besides, people hardly ever use these bathrooms at the stadium for their actual purpose anyway. People skip class and make-out out here and the janitorial staff has got to have OCD ‘cause there isn’t a place on the entire campus that has a speck of dust.

Back to the matter at hand, those soft gentle lips on mine. I couldn’t help but moan and pull his body closer to mine. You guys have no idea how badly I wanted this. Avan rested his forehead against mine and chuckled. I wondered for a split second then blushed feverishly when his hips ground against mine.

“It seems like someone’s happy to see me,” he said rubbing my nose with his. Remember, the track shorts are evil for a reason. They’re flimsy and if you get wood, there’s no way in hell to hide it and believe me, I had some major wood goin’ on at the time. And I wasn’t the only one. Avan was wearing his trademark baggy basketball shorts so it wasn’t like he could go walking out in public at the moment either. He just had more material to work with than I did.

“Shit I can’t go out there like this,” I said with his hips still pressed against mine, “My event is coming up soon.”

“Final call for the women’s thirty-two hundred. Final call for the men’s thirty-two hundred. First call for the men’s four hundred,” came over the loud speaker.

“Looks like you’ve got some time.”

“Yeah, nine minutes at the most,” I said panting slightly since Avan hasn’t stopped grinding against me. We’ve got fast runners, and unfortunately in the thirty-two hundred, so did the other three schools.

“I know. I want this to be longer as well, but since you still have to run I should--,”

“Don’t you dare fuckin’ stop now!” I said pulling his lips back to mine.

“So you want a quickie, eh?” he said smirking as we broke for air.

“I can’t go out there like this!”

“Don’t worry babe, I’ll take care of you.”

Sorry guys, I’m not givin’ ya the details on that one. Mainly because I can’t remember and my eyes were closed from the feeling. It was fast and furious and…just….fuckin’ incredible!  I couldn’t believe he was able to make me cum in that small amount of time so many times. If anyone had come in I wouldn’t have known…or cared at that point. Needless to say I wasn’t sporting wood when my event started, just a red face and slightly wobbly legs. Unlucky for me I placed sixth in the four hundred and coach wasn’t too pleased with that, but he let me off the hook since I was red from the time I came on to the track until the time I finished and he gave me my time. Yeah, Avan had to make that one up. I was a shoe in to win that event.

Avan and I started back to the school when Jake, Mark, and Rocket caught up with us. I was still a bit on the pink side and I hoped they weren’t gonna ask me what happened. I hoped.

“Yo Sage Francis, what happened out there?” Rocket said catching up to us first, “You could’ve won that one in your sleep.”

“Yeah, are you feelin’ ok? You look a little red,” Mark said as he and Jake joined us.

“I’m…just a bit tired, that’s all,” I said. My face had started to heat up again. Avan looked at me.

“Really? There was plenty of time for a break before your run,” Rocket said turning down her music. She looked at Avan who started looking else where. Rocket smiled.

Oh hell.

Jake saw the smile and I guess came to the same conclusion Rocket did. My face felt hotter. Mark stood there looking back and forth between the two before he finally just came out with it, “Where you two gettin’ it on before your run?”

Not good.

“…You were! No wonder you placed so bad, you didn’t have any strength to run.”

Really, not good. My face felt like I could fry an egg on it.

“Next time you should wait ‘til after your run to get you quickie on Sage Francis,” he kept on, “Coach Morgansen’s probably breathin’ fire right…about…OH SHIT CATCH HIM!”

That was the last thing I heard.

I came to in the training room with an ice pack wrapped in a towel on my forehead and the cool breeze of a fan blowing over my body. I went to take the pack off my head when a slightly calloused hand grabbed mine. I opened my eyes and found those eyes looking back at me.

“You had me worried there Walker,” he said quietly, “You’ve been out for ten minutes.”

“Damn,” I said making the effort to sit up only to have Avan gently push me back down, “I’m sorry.”

“It’s ok, you’re awake now and that’s what matters,” he said then gave me a quick peck on the lips before turning to let the athletic trainer know I was awake. He came ever to look at me and then recommended that I should see a doctor if something like that has ever happened or should it happen again. Since athletic trainers are only NATA certified, they aren’t allowed to give a diagnosis. They can tell you if they think you should see a doctor for any problems. I thanked him and was allowed to leave since Avan had told him while I was out that he was taking me home.

The others were just outside the training room when I came out. Relief spread across their faces as they saw me walking under my own power. We walked in silence until we made it outside.

“I’m sorry Sage, I didn’t mean to--,”

“It’s ok Mark, you didn’t know,” I said.

“I can’t believe you really passed out like that,” Rocket said, “I mean, you have Raime for a sister and I’m pretty sure there hasn’t been a lot of things you haven’t come across in her room.”

“She’s got her own side of the house. Dad built it after she felt the need to ask his opinion on something while he was still in the shower. I rarely venture into that territory. I don’t think National Geographic or the Discovery channel would want to go there,” I said walking over to the bike rack. The others nodded their heads in agreement. They then said their goodbyes and parted ways leaving Avan and me alone again.

“You sure you’re ok? I…can take you home if you want.”

“Ok. Besides, you still have to make up for me blowing that race today.”

“I thought I blew you enough before the race.”

I blushed again.

“Stop blushing Walker, I’m not carrying you to the training room if you drop on me this time.”

“I would if you’d quit saying stuff like that out loud and in public.”

“I remember last time you did that to me we were at my place. It was just the two of us there. That wasn’t in public,” he felt the need to remind me.

“…Fine. You still owe me.”

“I can handle that.”

“Take me home please.”

“Yours or mine.”

“…Mine for now. I’ll decide when you can make it up to me,” I said smirking as I grabbed my bike.

As for the rest of the week, I couldn’t get out of track practice since I sucked so bad at the meet in the four hundred so no watching Avan perform on the field. That Friday I was so worn out Jake had to drive me home. I think I stayed a nice shade of pink the entire ride since Jake couldn’t help but grin or out right smile the whole time. I’d have been mad if his smile wasn’t so damn beautiful. Home track meets were indeed memorable that year. Oh yeah, Avan did make it up to me for making me suck so bad at that race a couple of weeks later after one of their matches. It involved a lot of that…sucking that is. What was he in a past life? A Hoover? I’m guessing you guys want some details on that, don’t you. I thought so…perverts. I can’t tell who’s worse, you all or Raime. And no, I haven’t told her any of this so don’t go spreadin’ it around, ok? That’s the last thing I need to deal with.

It was on a Friday and the team had an away soccer game and the student trainer that was supposed to go with the trainer was out that day so I volunteered. I hadn’t had a chance to see Avan in action due to track so I took the opportunity when it came. We have a good soccer team! I was thoroughly impressed with how they worked out there. We pulled off the win just before the stoppage time ran out two to one against Marlboro Evans. The athletic trainer was carrying on a conversation with one of the players when I made it to the bus so I stole away to sit with Avan behind them. The ride back was the usual jovial mess that comes with victory.  I sat next to the window while Avan joked with his teammates across from us. This was the longest away game of the season taking almost an hour to get back to school. Soon enough, the buzz drifted down and the only sounds were those of seat mate conversation and that of the bus.

Avan had pulled his equipment bag into his lap and was moving around the contents inside before pulling out an MP3 player and headphones. I was beginning to drift off when he nudged me with his elbow.  He held out one of the ear buds to me and I took it. Soon my ear was filled with music. I managed to slide down in the seat a bit and folded my legs against the back of the one in front of me while I let the music tune out the sound of the bus.  I didn’t notice that I had leaned my head against Avan’s shoulder until a song came on that I didn’t recognize. It was a guy singing with a guitar in a language I didn’t know. His voice was melodic and enticing and I found it very interesting despite the fact I had no clue what he was singing about.  I looked at Avan’s hand that held the player and saw what I’m guessing was the name of the song ‘Mind Forest’ with a name I don’t think I could have pronounced.  I liked the sound of it. I continued to lean against him as I think the guys in the seat across from us were actually asleep. It wasn’t long before I felt his hand on my thigh. Thank goodness I was wearing baggy denim shorts that day, not like those evil track shorts. I’m guessing that he liked my shorts as well ‘cause in the position I was in they fell back exposing much of my thighs. He kept his bag in his lap to block any chance of a side view to those across from us. Ok, I’ll admit that I liked where his fingers were doin’ the walking, especially when they reached their destination. I go commando, and not to brag…too much, I’ve got a nice unit if I do say so myself.

Now the test was up to me not to give away the fact that Avan was giving my unit as massage on a bus full of guys. I bit my lip as his fingers brushed my head, those fingers sending jolts of pleasure through my body. He then teased my slit and I felt myself thickening up. I was definitely in for a ride. My brain told the rest of my body to go with the flow and it did. I spread my legs a bit and placed my left foot back down on the floor. He was still teasing me then he stopped. My eyes that apparently closed during the journey flew open. I saw his hand make its way out from under my shorts only to retrace the route above to the hem of my shirt. I closed my eyes again since I knew my shirt was baggy enough to cover up anything that he was gonna do. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the person who came up with the idea of baggy clothes, for you are a true saint to all those who want to get off in public! Anyway, back to the matter at hand…or in his hand as I should say because as soon as his hand reached under my shirt, undone went the button and going over a bridge covered up the sound of my fly being unzipped.  He closed his hand over my unit and his thumb went back to caressing my head. I wanted so bad to thrust into that receiver’s hand, but I knew that motion would disturb the people in front of us so I had to be content with his slow, torturous strokes and gentle squeezes. My breathing began to pick up. I bit my lip harder to keep back the moan that wanted out as his fingers went down to tease my sac. Yeah, I’m at full attention now. He then came back and resumed his stroking. It was like I could feel every ridge of every fingerprint on his hand as they traced the veins on the underside of my cock from top to base. He kept this pace for a good while, for a majority of the trip actually. I couldn’t tell ‘cause I was too busy trying not to make a sound.  I turned my head into his arm and squeezed my eyes shut as hard as I could. I felt my sac starting to shift. My stomach felt heavy and tight. Shit, I was getting ready to blow my load. I think he sensed this and brought his actions to a gentle stop. WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!? YOU CAN’T STOP NOW!!!!!

“We’re here,” he whispered as the bus came to a stop. Shit, we made it back to school.
